The ides of March!

Some things I’m watching and listening to right now.

TV/Movies:

I’m continuing to enjoy Harley Quinn, Severance, DareDevil Born Again, Invincible and Reacher. Paradise Season 1 wrapped up really well last week.

Harley Quinn is still very entertaining, it’s hard for it to live up to it’s original newness, 4 seasons in, but I’m glad that they aren’t just phoning it in and cashing checks, there still doing their best to explore new areas and character development.

Severance is exciting and well written, I’m looking forward to the finale next week! DareDevil Born Again is coming along well. I can see a good conflict building between DD and KingPin. I enjoyed the finale of Invincible as well, not too much to talk about without spoiling it, but it continues to be a really solid, well written, well drawn, well acted show. I’m likely going to watch Reacher Season 3 episode 6 later today/this weekend. It’s a great “good guy takes all the bad guys down” kind of show, and it continues to deliver on that. I think the story and acting has gotten even better this season.

Paradise Season 1 was 🔥. I definitely recommend it. Sterling K. Brown did a great job Producing and Acting in this show. James Marsden really brought great depth to the president role, I really enjoyed watching this, and I don’t typically go for “thriller” type shows.

We also started Moana 2 last night, and I’m hoping we can finish it tonight or tomorrow, so far so good!

Books and Podcasts:

I’m listening to Mistborn: the Final Empire and back-episodes of the Threedom Podcast.

Mistborn scratches an itch for me, because it’s new IP where they have a new way that people can have “powers” and I love a story where the hero has some sort of powers, and it’s a challenge to do something that doesn’t seem like a re-mix of a Marvel or DC character, and they are managing it well. I enjoy how the author builds the world through taking the characters through different conflicts and events that explain the way things work in this fictional world. And the stakes are very real and exciting: trying to overthrow a tyrannical empire.

Threedom is a fun listen while I’m washing dishes and doing other things in my nightly routine. I like Lauren Lapkus and Paul F. Tompkins from other podcasts and shows, and I’m growing to enjoy Scott Aukerman’s sense of humor as well from listening to episodes. It’s a pretty simple format, they just catch up as friends and have funny chit chat, and then they play a roadtrip/improv game at the end, and they have been able to make so many that I have a big catalog to go through and enjoy!

Music:

Mostly Flute Mediation lol. I’ve also been listening to old school dancehall and soca when I’m playing something for the house/family. My oldest daughter is also listening to APT by Bruno Mars and Rosé a lot, and I don’t blame her 😂.
